Caloundra, a population of circa 70, 000 is where the Sunshine Coast commences and hosts the 1st surf boarding beaches due north of Brisbane. Caloundra has long-term been considered as a sleepy fishing small town over the years which has developed into an active holiday maker hot spot and has under gone a skyline transformation into beach front elegant apartments, coffeehouses and restaurants, whilst nevertheless keeping up its unstrained and hospitable atmosphere. Caloundra is a complete family resettlement location or vacation destination. There are many singles opportunities in Caloundra for those in the singles and dating scene, as Caloundra sees many new singles from the southern states re-locate here for a peaceful yet vibrant new beginning. Suss out  a few of the neat watering holes and nightclubs.

In the British press, they were saying he was in top form and raring to go but he looks everything BUT healthy to me. His skin looks rubbery and he is anorexic-looking and very frail. Shocking details about his autopsy was leaked yesterday. Apparently, his body was a complete mess. For a man of 510, he weighed a very anorexic 8 stone. He had reportedly lost most of his hair and was very skeletal with bruises, broken ribs, scars from his plastic surgery and needle wounds from his drug use. The bruising and broken ribs are the result of his doctor frantically trying to get his pulse back with CPR. Also, they reported that he probably hadnt eaten anything in 11 hours at the time of his death. All that was found in his stomach was dissolving pills. Anyway, Im just typing what I remember reading in The Sun. Um, I know they are notorious for not being that credible but they were right about the skin cancer so who knows? The family ordered and paid for a second post-mortem which has now been completed. We wont know the REAL results of his death until the toxicology reports come out in 6 to 8 weeks but the Jackson family are adamant that someone is going to pay for his untimely passing last Thursday.
As for the 800,000-plus tickets sold, AEG promoters didnt really want to lose all that money and were looking to turn the concerts into a star-studded tribute with Janet Jackson and her brothers leading it. There were also talks about using a highly technical state of the art MJ to give off this digital but realistic illusion that he is there performing.

It’s not often that a debut novelist arrives fully formed, and it’s even less often that that author wins one of the largest literary prizes in the world. New York author Michael Thomas has done just that. In his debut novel, Man Gone Down, Thomas tells the story of a black man staying with a friend in Brooklyn while he is temporarily estranged from his white wife. The story chronicles the attempts of this unnamed narrator to piece together a life on the brink of chaos. His horror and awe in the face of a turbulent world comes to express much more than the contemporary African American experience; his voice elucidates a confused, poignant and very universal struggle over what it means to be human.
It’s a story that librarians and readers around the world decided in early June was worthy of the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, worth an estimated US$140,000. I reached Thomas in his New York office to discuss the prize, his prolific reading habits, and his ambitious plans for the future.
Q. What do you want readers to take away from this novel?
A. Perhaps what it’s like to walk around this country or this world as someone else. To understand not being sure of oneself, but at the same time having to be sure and having to be concrete and make decisions about what’s true or not true, in the sense of history or stereotypes or the future or one’s role in the world.

Q. This is your first novel, and you’ve clearly landed with a strong style and voice. How much do you owe to your formal education, and how much is intuitive?
A. I think I got my formal education in various places, the first being from my father. I say this with caution, because I think that some people have taken it the wrong way in that he was this prolific and brilliant reader. But my father read to me a great amount of large books when I was very young, and I internalized his language. He read things like Joyce or Eliot or Douglas, and played different types of music from swing to the blues to country to punk. I listened to how different artists or writers with atypical imaginations created or constructed images. The adherence of both my mother and father to the life of the mind and education and literacy, and advocating for their children’s education in very different ways was very important. My mother was very practical, like she would fight to get me into this school or that school. My father was more about telling me, “All these texts, these paintings, these songs, they’re all a part of your cultural heritage. It doesn’t matter if you’re black or white or poor or this or that, you’re a creature of the west and these things are yours. You’re a creature of the world and these things are yours to read and love, or dismiss, whatever, but don’t lock yourself out of this cultural inheritance because of the colour of your skin, or where you were born, or your political leanings or your social proclivities.” And then I think formal education in school was kind of both a hindrance in its formality, but also positive in that it exposed me to lots of work.
Q. Is it significant to you that the nominees for this prize come from public libraries?
A. Yes, and this may sound haughty because I won, but I assure you that if I hadn’t won or even been named to the list, I would still say it seems like a grass roots prize. The procedure that the librarians revealed was involved is different than a lot of other awards where you have established authors or people in publishing pick things. These are picked by librarians and readers, and it seems like there is a democracy or meritocracy to it. My book was nominated by a small library in Barbados, which holds equal weight to the National Library of Ireland in Dublin, or in London or wherever else.
Q. Do you think having this money will change anything dramatically?
No. If anything, money buys time for people like me. So will I all of a sudden vote republican for capital gains purposes? No. Will I change the things I write about? No.
Q. What are you working on now?
A. A non-fiction book about four generations of my family: my grandfather, my father, myself and my son.

- No one is legally obligated to be a dad in terms of providing the kind of emotional support that parents should ideally provide; the state, however, does have an interest in making sure that children are fed and financially provided-for. That’s where child support comes in. The courts can’t force you to be a decent human being, but they can make you pony up a little cash to make sure that the kid you helped create has something to eat and some clothes to wear.
