One of the many mysteries of Earths nearest planetary neighbour Venus has been cracked, Nature journal reports.
Scientists have long puzzled over conspicuous patches in the Venusian clouds that appear dark at ultraviolet (UV) light wavelengths.
They now think these are solid particles or liquid droplets that get transported from deep in the atmosphere up to the planets cloud tops.
But a riddle remains: scientists still dont know what they are made up of.
The features are distributed within the thick clouds of sulphuric acid and sulphur dioxide that shroud the hothouse planet.
These (UV features) have been observed since 1929. We see them in images from the Pioneer Venus probe and in ground-based observations, said Dr Dmitri Titov, from the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany.
It had previously been unclear whether these were caused by differences in the height of the cloud tops, temperature differences or variation in composition of the clouds.
Darkness and light
Data from the European Space Agency (Esa) spacecraft show that areas near Venus equator which appear dark in ultraviolet light are regions of relatively high temperature. The scientists think this is where intense convection brings up the mysterious dark material from below.
Bright regions at Venus mid-latitudes are areas where the temperature in the atmosphere decreases with depth, which prevents air from rising. The effect is most extreme in a wide belt around the poles, which has been dubbed the cold collar.
At low and mid-latitudes, the cloud top is located at a constant altitude of about 72km in both the dark and light regions, which suggests the light and dark patches do not result from changes in elevation.

Thailand - the land of endless golden beaches, aquamarine water, generous people, and of course, elephants. Now try to imagine Thailand again, but without its iconic elephants. This unimaginable scenario is fast becoming a reality. Only a century ago, over 100,000 elephants roamed Thailand - now there are only 5,000 left.
Thailand has traditionally used domesticated elephants as their main work-force animals for logging - even as military machines. In recent times, however, the 1989 logging ban has put most of these elephants out of work and into the streets as beggars. It's not unusual to spot a terrified baby elephant begging for change for its owner in the chaotic streets of Bangkok. The situation seems dire for Thailand's elephants, but there's still hope in the form of a dimunitive but feisty woman named Sangduen "Lek" Chailert.
This tiny woman has single-handedly rescued abused and unemployed elephants and brought them to her Elephant Nature Park, where they are rehabilitated and allowed to live out their lives peacefully. Located near the north-east Thailand city of Chiang-Mai, this sanctuary allows tourists to give a little TLC to the gentle giants, and to even volunteer their services for as long as they wish to stay.
After visiting this place, where you get to feed and bathe the elephants, you will never look at elephant rides the same way again. For herself, Lek has vowed to dedicate her life to saving these beautiful creatures, stating, "...I will work to help elephants until I die... I will never stop!" Certainly after a day of being at this must-see place, you will hold some of her passion within yourself forever.

"struggle" or Jihad, the aims of Islam. And the aims of Islam are essentially not otherworldly but very much of this world: to remove all obstacles to the spread of Islam (the Constitution of the United States, for example, is such an obstacle), and then the dominance of Islam, everywhere.

Islam inculcates a view of a world that is divided in two (leaving out the nearly-insignificant, hardly-existing, lands of transient "truce," or Dar al-Sulh), between Dar al-Islam, the lands where Islam dominates and Muslims rule, and Dar al-Harb, the Land, or Domain, or House, of War, where Islam does not yet dominate and Muslims do not yet rule. Between the two Houses, between Infidels and Believers, a permanent state of war exists and must exist, until the whole world belongs to Allah and to his people. This is not a fabrication made up by those who for some unaccountable reason have it in for Islam. This is Islamic doctrine. It is not the less Islamic doctrine if your smiling Muslim co-worker earnestly, with a great show of sincerity, attempts to deny this doctrine or at least professes amazement and puzzlement when you attempt to ask him about it, as if he simply had no idea.

Every single apostate has testified to what Muslims discuss freely, and of which they are certainly well aware, when they think no Infidels are around to overhear. Again and again they stress the well-practiced mendacity of Muslims. Should we disbelieve Ibn Warraq, Ali Sina, Wafa Sultan, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and all the other "defectors" from the Army of Islam? Can't we tell that they are sturdily and bravely telling the truth in what they speak and what they write? Can't we see the obvious meretriciousness not only of the CAIR and mcb people, but of those Muslims, groups or individuals, who attempt to deny that what is in the Qur'an, the Hadith, the Sira, exists? Or if it exists, they would have us believe that it cannot possibly mean what of course they know perfectly well that it means.

Some, admittedly, may fail to admit this not out of deep and sinister malevolence, but only out of embarrassment. But even if it is only out of embarrassment, one has to ask: why do you still call yourself a Muslim, why do you remain loyal to a Total Belief-System that indeed does inculcate such things, even if you, personally, are at least indifferent to, and possibly opposed to, the most dangerous and disturbing and worst of what Islam teaches? What is the hold of this on you? Why do you insist on not openly telling the truth about it? Why are you yourself not a defector from the Army of Islam? Why do you not even recognize -- this to Pakistanis and Iranians and other non-Arabs -- that at some point in the past, your Hindu or Jain or Buddhist or Zoroastrian ancestors were forcibly, not willingly, converted to Islam because they hoped to avoid the status, to which as non-Muslims was the very best they could hope for, of dhimmi, which meant permanent humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity?

The texts of Islam are immutable. What Islam inculcates remains, to be found, always and forever, in those texts. No matter what selective or bowdlerized version the British or the French or other governments, in government-funded mosques, think they can present and so mold the minds of Muslims to accept a sanitized Islam, the real texts will always be there, always available to the Believers. Large-scale integration of those whose creed is not only alien but also permanently and deeply hostile to all non-Muslims, simply is not possible for any Infidel nation-state. Those who put their faith in such policies of integration are foolish, building on sand, evading reality. That reality will have to be confronted, and confronted soon, while there is still time. The steady degradation and greatly rising expense for Infidels has not yet reached, as it soon will, nightmarish proportions.

Think right now only of that: the sheer expense of Muslims living in large numbers in Infidel lands.
There is the expense, for Infidels, of paying for all the benefits -- the free health care, and free education, and free or nearly-free subsidized housing, even the generous family allowances -- that Muslims all over Western Europe receive, and take advantage of in fiddling ways that are not to be believed.
And think what those huge Muslim families -- huger by far than those of the indigenous Infidels, or even of the other, non-Muslim immigrants -- and the burden they place on Infidel taxpayers. Think, for example, of the expense those huge families have caused the National Health Service in Great Britain -- think of the obstetricians, the gynecologists, and of course the translators who so often must be paid. And think of the much higher incidence of serious congenital illnesses among Muslims, because of their insistence on marrying, so often, relatives, illnesses that must be expensively treated. And that rampant and even fanatical endogamy reflects the general mistrust of others that is observable among Muslims, who growing up in a faith full of acts of aggression and deception, helps mold men of similar inclinations or worries.

And the monitoring of Muslims, the agents, the tapping of phones, the huge payments to informants (who may themselves be merely getting on the Infidel payroll, and not really offering anything of value), the enormous costs of securing airports, train and bus stations, planes and railroads and busses, schools, government offices, symbols of authority, churches and synagogues and Hindu temples, the residential dwelling-places of important officials who may have earned a special hostility, and all the rest -- it adds up.

I have heard different calculations for the cost of each Muslim in a non-Muslim land. One person has suggested a figure of $100,000 annually; another has suggested a figure of $250,000 annually. Take your own pencils and paper. Find out what your government spends, in monitoring Muslims and in guarding non-Muslim sites, in giving Muslims health care (used disproportionately) and education (used sparingly, but often the education of fellow non-Muslim students is disrupted by the atmosphere created), and housing, and all the rest.

Go ahead. Figure it out.

Now ask yourself a few questions. Here's one to start with: how many non-Muslims in Great Britain are now routinely being denied procedures that might save their lives -- new but expensive cancer treatments, or open-heart surgery -- because the NHS "doesn't have the money"? And ask why it "doesn't have the money" and how long you think you, or others, should be expected to quietly endure, as you have endured, this situation.

"wut dut". Cow Mo (Aunt; Uncle's wife) was trying to stop him from yelling and was standing in between us. But even Cow Mo can't stop him. He kept on saying "Who the f*ck do you think you are?? Telling me to quiet down?! I've held it in yesterday when you told me to quiet down I'm not gonna hold it in today" and "You shut up now or I'm going to smack you in the face". Then I turned to him and opened my mouth, I was trying to say "I was just trying to tell you to not be so loud because my ears hurt" and then before I could even say any word he points his stupid finger in my face and said "Don't let me hear another word from your mouth".

It's more like "who does he think he is?" He has no right to yell at me. If he wants to yell at a kid he should make his own and yell at them. If I wasn't well-mannered enough, I would have told him to shut up and not "Cow Cow, can you not be so loud?" The way that he yelled at me freaked out Jeffrey and Poh Poh (Grandma). I'm just afraid that Poh Poh might get a heart attack from Cow Cow's sudden loud voice. It doesn't matter what he's doing, it's always loud. Loud laughs. Loud talks. Loud yells. Loud everything.

So in the end, I went back into my room and cried (by the way, I've moved in with my grandma now). He has no right to yell at me. What the hell has he done for this family? All he knows how to do is put responsibility on other people. Like telling me "Remind Poh Poh to take her meds". He did not shed one tear at Gong Gong's funeral. In fact, he was still making STUPID jokes on Gong Gong's death day. He almost wore a sweatshirt and sweat pants to the funeral itself if my mom didn't call him and talk to him about it. It's like... have you no respect for your father??

Not just that, Sunday afternoon he called and said that he was coming over for lunch WHILE we were ALREADY eating lunch. So Poh Poh had to turn on the stove and cook all over for him again. And you know what he does when he came over? He doesn't even bother helping in the kitchen. Instead, he stands in the middle of the living room and starts doing his tai chi moves, expecting his mother to do everything. Poh Poh is not young anymore. Can someone please tell Cow Cow that now that Gong Gong is gone? I hate him.

I don't care, I demand an apology!!! It hasn't even been a day yet since my parents are gone and this is what happens. I hope he pops a blood vessel and die!

Keep in mind, people, his name is "Steven Ng" and he works at the UBC Bookstore. BEWARE.

Two new faces for our viewers this week, and they’re as nice a contrast as they are opposites. The first face is an imported one with swarthy dark features and olive skin. This face with the piercing eyes belongs to Giovanni Sabato and comes to us from Romania in Eastern Europe. He’s 27 years old. This Italian Greek fusion is not only new to the US, having only been here for 2 months, but also new to the adult industry. This is Giovanni’s “first time”. We don’t get to use that line often these days. Though we’re sure some of you use it quite often …you know who you are. Giovanni is excited to be doing films, since he loves sex and can’t seem to get enough cock. He loves to bottom, and his ultimate fantasy would involve a room full of tops for him to enjoy. He is happiest with a dick in his ass. Hearing that confession, Giovanni’s playmate for this afternoon lights up as he smiles ear to ear. This huge smile belongs to a homegrown California boy by the name of Johnny Donovan. Originally from Cali, this Seal Beach native is an extra thick slice of Americana. He’s a West coast beach stud, right down to the puka shell necklace. At 32, he’s tan and hairy, and has tussled “surfer dude” hair; which he admits he loves to do whenever he get the chance. Johnny is a sex-a-holic. So, with one horny All-American stud and one insatiable and willing Euro import, we have all the groundwork in place for some really hot foreign “relations”.

Inquirer.Net Blog: Being Filipino
IT is said that one could find a Filipino in almost every corner of the world. And in a charming little corner in southwest Brittany, France called Quimper, a provincial lass from Mauban, Quezon sparkles.
Quimper pronounced “kem-pair” is a quaint, medieval town with cobbled streets, low flat bridges that cross the river that glides along the impressive Saint-Corentin cathedral.
Half-timbered buildings are festooned with geraniums and chrysanthemums this time of the year. Within this ancient city, the oldest cities in Brittany actually, are ultramodern buildings that blend tunefully with the city’s old world charm. Quimper is a storybook land from the medieval quarter. And this is where Margo Calderero-Palud’s story unfolds.
Down the boulevard of cafés and creperies, and among pottery shops and other tourist attractions is a much loved jewelry store, owned by a humble yet feisty Filipina. In fact, Margo Calderero-Palud heads and runs not just one but three well-known shops in this fabled city, in southwest Breton — Bisoux, which sells high end, fine jewelry pieces, Kisso Kisso, which specializes in the more fun and funky trinkets and charms, and Pilgrim, a jewelry, fashion accessories and fashion store.
Margo’s fairy-tale like story began in 1992, when she married Intercontinental Manila’s celebrated French Executive Chef Michel Palud. After 4 years, the couple flew to France to start their own restaurant, Le Spices. Margo, a University of Santo Tomas Fine Arts graduate and stranger to a foreign land, was determined to support her husband no matter what. And as a dutiful wife and partner, she summoned every fiber in her body to help make their restaurant a success.
Expectedly, Michel was lord of the kitchen, while Margo worked on the concept, interior, packaging, marketing and entertaining. See? She was into multi-tasking even before the word became every career woman’s mantra! So it wasn’t a surprise that in 12 years, Le Spices became a one of the town’s more adored spots. But just when Margo thought that her life would continue its storybook sequence, a chapter suddenly ended! Her husband Michel decided to sell the restaurant and move on to bigger ventures abroad. It was probably the artist in her kicking in, for this time, Margo decided to stay in France instead of joining him. She wanted to etch a name for herself and made a name, she did.
Guided by instinct and thrilled to venture on her own, Margo saw the light when she came across a jewelry store that was for sale. She knocked on their doors but instead of buying it lock, stock, and barrel, she asked the owner if she could work there for a few months to check its profitability. Here’s a great tip from Margo: “When buying a business, don’t take the owner’s word for it. Experience it firsthand, then give your price.”
In three months, the sales of that store doubled! The secret? Surely, it was Margo’s innate charm and her attention to clients’ needs. One can probably add the Filipino’s inherent hospitality into the mix. She explains further, “In the resto, I did my best to know my diners by heart. I knew how they liked their meals cooked, or what time they would come in for their café.” Margo adds, “this attention, I used in the jewelry store, so sales flourished. And because it did, the owner decided not to sell!”
Downcast, she thought of moving back to the Philippines. But she remembered her commitment to succeed in foreign shores. Talk about faith and Fate! Soon after, another jewelry store was up for sale. Margo snapped up the chance. Without missing a beat, she flew home to Mauban, Quezon, sold her property and this time, bought the business lock, stock, and barrel. There was no turning back for this feisty self-proclaimed probinsyana.
Bisoux was born and a new chapter in her exciting life had begun.
The store was a labor of love. Margo painted the walls, assembled the furniture and fixtures herself. She asked suppliers to place their merchandising in her store. The result was a quaint shop where shoppers would walk in, chitchat with this warm Filipina, and walk out with their fine purchases.
Initially, she was into selling certain pieces she got in Manila’s Greenhills tiangge (mini stalls).
Today, she purchases her wares from South Africa, Columbia and Italy. She also attends shows in Hong Kong, Paris and Italy to keep updated with the trends. However, her thrust now is to promote and sell the Philippines’ Pride — golden south sea pearls and indigenous Filipino jewelry to Europe through her stores. Not forgetting her roots and wanting to give back, Margo also initiated a livelihood program for her townsfolk in Mauban.
Tapping on Filipino ingenuity, she created a cottage industry of jewelry pouches from old Barong Tagalogs, and made jewelry hangers from the local woodcraft. And that wasn’t enough. Margo also established the Ninong and Ninang Foundation, to help provide education to Mauban’s children. The mandate is simple: French sponsors adopt a child for a year and provide for his or her education and educational needs. Imagine. She started with 5 kids, now her foundation has sent 32 kids to school this year. Margo knows education is important in shaping children’s young minds. She has two wonderful kids herself, Natalie who is 16 and Christof, aged 20.
So what can be gleaned from Margo’s heartwarming story? That every Filipina who has talent, a strong belief in one’s self, and the determination to make it no matter how big or small the odds, can become successful anywhere in the world. And like Margo Calderero-Palud, sparkle and shine.
But wait! Margo’s love affair with jewelry and the ancient beauty of France isn’t over yet. The next interesting chapter is still being written. And she hopes you won’t miss it.

YG Family is a Korean hip hop rap group consisting of all the members in the YG Entertainment label. The song, 우리는 YG Family (pronounced Oori Nun YG Family), or in English "We are YG Family" is the first single off the Famillenium album released in 1999. This song features the rappers 1TYM, Jinusean, Perry, and Yang Goon, the founder of YG Entertainment.

I remember seeing this music video sometime back in the year 2000 and I thought, wow, this must be Asian gangsta rap that I'm seeing right now. Back in the year 2000, Asian rap and Asian hip hop was something new. In all honesty though, I thought this was the coolest music video ever. And today though, it still is, to some degree of course. I mean, how more gangsta can this music video get? There's plenty of guns, shooting and killing people and and even having a gun shootout with the police! Haha. And then add matrix-like special effects to the mix and you have a hit song. Usually the Korean media is extra conservative when it comes to displaying mature subject matter such as this, and I am surprised that they allowed this music video to be shown and let this song to be on the charts. Nevertheless, this is a classic Korean rap song.

Taiwanese rapper, MC Hotdog has released his 5th album on October 2008. His new album called 差不多先生 (pronounced: Cha Bu Duo Xiang Sheng), translated in English as Mr. Almost. This album was one of the most anticipated Chinese hip hop albums in Taiwan and also China.

Track Listing

01. 我瘋了 (Im Crazy)
02. 差不多先生 (Mr. Almost)
03. 我哈你 (My Honey)
04. 海洋 (Ocean)
05. 謝謝啞虎 (Thanks Yahoo)
06. 瞎王之王 (Blind King Of Kings)
07. 毒 (Poison)
08. 請拍手 (Please Clap)
09. 怎麼能夠 (How Can)
10. 他們覺得 (They Feel That)

Mr. Almost, is the title track is MC Hotdog's album. In this song, MC Hotdog uses the phrase 差不多 in almost every line. The term "差不多" (pronounced: cha bu duo) can be translated to English as "good enough". This line of thinking has plagued the Chinese people where they would compromise their effort or quality just because it is "good enough". The name 差不多先生 or "Mr. Almost" was first used by a 20th century Chinese philosopher name of Hu Shi who wrote a story to discourage the Chinese about this line of thinking. MC Hotdog's song Mr. Almost is a tribute to Hu Shi's work, and MC Hotdog addresses the very same issue and mentality that is still affecting the Chinese people today. Mr. Almost is satirical song about a life that revolves around the "good enough" mentality and therefore cuts corners in almost anything and everything just to get things over with to the point where it becomes ridiculous. There is also a funny line where MC Hotdog says he had "good enough" sex many times using a "good enough" position.

I don't know exactly what it means, but I joined Facebook the other day, and tonight, I put up a few pictures and a brief bio. I allowed the program to get into my email address book and I swear, at least 75% of everyone in there must already have a Facebook page! (I have about 300 names in there collected since 1996) Crazy!

Within minutes, I received an email that said an old friend, Tim, signed my wall. I never even knew I had a wall. I then went and signed his wall. Weird! Another friend signed my wall and said something to the effect of, "Dude, Are you now just getting out of the stoneages? You're just getting a Facebook page now?!" I previously thought that it was just something for teenagers! Other adults would do it too, but I thought it was just an attempt to stay hip and cool. My apologies!

Overall, it seems like a good tool where I can keep in touch with friends (new and old) from high school, college, church, etc. I know there's more to it, but as of now, I don't know much else. I know there's a whole realm of psychology out there for me to analyze using tools like this, but it's not to be studied tonight. My Grandpa would have simply said to just pick up the phone and call them.

Flowsik is a Korean rapper from Queens, New York from the Illuminaire Status label. For those who have been following hip hop news, you guys know about Ice-T making headlines back in the summer of 2008 when he said "Fuck Soulja Boy! Eat a dick! This nigga single handedly killed hip hop. Wow. Talk about controversial. For all you guys that already knew about it, yes, this is old news. What Ice-T meant was that the rappers that are in the limelight nowadays lack the content that makes hip hop exciting and fresh. This is not only Ice-T's view but there is a lot of talk nowadays that hip hop is stagnant. Even Nas said it with his song Hip Hop is Dead. In comes, Flowsik an Asian rapper. Ice-T seems to take a liking to Flowsik and even co-signed him. Whatever that Soulja Boy is missing, Flowsik definately makes up for it.

Here is a clip of Flowsik performing over Nas's classic Represent. This performance was held at the world famous Pyramid Club at the Lower East Side in New York where Ice-T was hosting the "End of the Weak", an open-mic event. If you go to the worldstarhiphop where Flowsik's video is hosted the title says "The Next Jin?". What? They don't even look alike!! Flowsik is Korean and Jin is Chinese. And they don't even rap the same. Ugh. Whatever. As long as Asian rappers can get some limelight and get some recognition that's fine. We all know how the industry treated Jin, being and Asian rapper and all. Let's hope they don't do the same for Flowsik, cuz this cat definately has talent.

I love Steven Spielberg.  I like Will Smith.  I love Oldboy.  I hate the idea of Spielberg and Will Smith remaking something that is already pretty much close to perfection.  As much as I dig on Steven Spielberg, Spielberg is no Park Chan-wook the Korean director responsible for directing the original Oldboy along with Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Lady Vengeance, JSA, and the underrated Im a Cyborg But Thats Okay.  They are two different directors with two very different styles.  I wouldnt want to see Park Chan-wook direct a remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark or E.T. The Extraterrestrial.  It would just be a bad idea.
And Will Smith.  I just dont see him matching the vulnerability, rage, and anguish that Choi Min-sik achieved in Oldboy.  I hate to say it buy Will Smith simply doesnt have the range for this kind of role.  And certain plot elements are probably going to be changed or watered down to attract a more mainstream audience.  Too bad these plot elements are important aspects of the story and if they are watered down or removed, then the movie will suffer greatly.
I wouldnt be surprised if the end product of this collaboration will be totally different from the film that its based on.  If thats the case, then why bother doing a remake in the first place?  Whats the point.

Katharine Q. Seelye of The New York Times narrates this wonderful video piece covering the events of the Presidential race in the last 2 years. The video is separated into three sections: the landscape; the candidates; and the voters. The thing that I love about this NYT production is that each section includes related links below the video as the video progresses (if youve seen the NYT Presidential Debates page, its similar to that).
The video is available in large-format and low-bandwidth versions, but honestly, Id try and get to a place with hi-speed broadband so that the stunning images in the video are viewed at their best sizes. Seriously, this video has some really great photos and you wouldnt want to see them any smaller than the largest size possible.

Will West is one of those mature, lean hairy musclebears who evokes all that is manly and studly in the gay bear world. There isnt a ounce of fat on the man, and his striated musculature is still incredibly prevelant regardless of the thick carpet of man fur that covers his entire being. I for one really adore his beard. Ive always admired a stud with whiskers. On the right man, it represents all that is masculine about our gender. Will is one of the Members favourites at HDKMen, and that isnt surprising in the least with his thick weapon of ass destruction and incredible presence on screen. Probably his most alluring quality though is his innate ability to lead the pack in whatever scene he may engage in. He will top an ass until its good and used and thats the only way he likes to play. A true Bear Daddy Stud in every single sense of the term. Of course, if he fucks another hot hunky hot desert knights ass, its completely bareback of course.

When you are standing on a streetcar, subway or bus using a sparing ready stance really helps keep your balance. This involves standing with one foot slightly infront of the other, slightly larger than shoulder width apart, with your toes facing forward. Your back foot is is pointing forward but also angled off to the side. Knees should always be slightly bent and your weight should be on the balls of your feet, not the heel.
Standing like this is very stable and gives you enough balance to cope with any hard stops or steep turns your mass transportation may encounter. You may get some dirty looks for having such a big stance, but you can keep your bag/backpack between your legs to give you an excuse (but you should be doing that anyway instead of wearing it on your back and hitting people with it!)
And as an added bonus, if another commuter looses their balance and ends up falling on you, your stance will give you more than enough stability to support them and keep yourself from falling as well. A great way to leave a good impression on that cute but clumsy someone someone. Or if some punk kid feels like muscling his way through the commuter masses hell be in for a big surprise when he tries to shoulder past you and your stable base.
That one has happened to me before, and the thug bounced off me and spun around like a top. The look on his face was priceless.
