In a previous article we suggested printing out what youve written and looking it over on paper to get a different perspective from staring at the screen. But a printed page isnt the only old technology that still works well when you need to communicate clearly and market your skills, products, or services effectively. We humans and our useful inventions go way back.

Websterware

While youre proofing your work, keep a good dictionary handy, an actual book version.

Look up the spelling of any word about which youre even a little unsure.

Look up the meaning of a word if youre not certain its the right one for the job.

Online dictionaries are useful and generally accurate, but a printed dictionary has certain advantages. For example, if you dont know how to spell a word, an online dictionary might not be able to figure out what word youre looking for when you type in your best guess. In an old-fashioned book dictionary, on the other hand, you can scan the words in a column to find the desired word even if you dont know its spelling.

Also, looking up a word in a printed dictionary gives you a momentary break from the screen.

Get a full-sized, hardcover dictionary. The small paperback ones may look handy and convenient, but theyre very incomplete.

A thesaurus is also an invaluable tool. An online version usually does the trick. Its easy to fall into the habit of using the same old words over and over again. If you find youre using the same adjective more than once in a sentence, or the same term in sentence after sentence, look it up in a thesaurus and find alternative words that mean the same thing. Except when using specific technical terms, you can almost always find ways to vary your terminology, especially with verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.

This isnt just good writing form. It benefits your readers. When we see the same word again and again our attention tends to lag. We get lulled into boredom. So by making your text more interesting for your reader, youre really doing yourself a favor.

Meatware

Nothing beats the human brain. Even a skilled writer should, whenever possible, have another human being look over his or her copy before its made available to customers, business partners, or the public.

This second pair of eyes does not have to belong to a professional proofreader or copy editor, although having someone like that handy is always a plus. It could be just about anyone.

It could be a colleague, of course. Someone who knows your business might catch factual errors or suggest improvements.

Or it could just be a friend or family member. Someone who doesnt know your business very well might point out a phrase or a term whose meaning is obvious to you, but might not be to the general reader.

Whoever it is, getting a different point of view will almost always result in some improvements to your writing: clearer phrasing, a better explanation of a technical point, catching spelling errors that you and your spell checker have missed, or any number of things. Two pairs of eyes are always better than one.

However, it is important to know when you do need professional help. If youre rolling out a new website or other mission-critical marketing materials, a marketing and/or writing professional may be needed. Poor grammar, typos, and spelling errors are no more acceptable on a website than they are on printed materials. An unclear sentence is just as bad as a broken link or a missing graphic.

So when youre getting your marketing materials ready for the public -- whether its printed collateral, a website, a press release, a resume, or anything else that has to represent you in the world -- get a second pair of eyes to look it over. Use a thesaurus to mix things up a little. And when things really have to be perfect, refer (and defer) to the proper authorities: a dictionary for the correct spelling or meaning; a professional to whip things into perfect shape.

"Apples-to-Apples" was conceived and invented by a builder. Having dealt with customers, and seen first-hand the frustration experienced when trying to compare estimates, this builder found a great need customers have in trying to compare their estimates "Apples-to-Apples." "Not only does "Apples-to-Apples" benefit the customer, but it's a great resource for contractors also, because it forces them to put their random thoughts on the pricing of a project down onto a form that organizes the project for them. It walks them through the various stages of the project and helps to limit any possible forgotten, yet expensive items, which could affect the project cost. This evens out the playing field for all contractors, and helps guard against those who low-ball a bid just to get the job, but who then later add extra upon extra, until it equals the other more qualified contractor's price in the end. This system helps to ensure the key importance of any remodeling project - balance price and quality by professional contractors with proper insurance, licensing and experience." Don't get stuck with someone you later need to fire, and spend even more money to fix their mistakes when you could have hired the right contractor in the first place. You've heard it said before, and it's true about anything; "you get what you pay for." And especially on your most valuable asset, your home. However, spending more doesn't mean the job will come out better, but spending the "right amount on the right contractor does!" Since the Beta version of "Apples-to-Apples" is free, you can't afford not to join. Using "Apples-to-Apples" services to manage your estimates and project details, could save you thousands of dollars in the long run! To get started, you simply request already registered contractors, or direct other potential new bidders to the www.ApplesToApples.biz website so they can register, lookup your project, and begin entering their estimate information into one of our customized and standardized estimate forms. For a contractor to be able to enter estimate information, they have to first be approved as an estimator for the project. Our revolutionary system will allow you to approve or disapprove bid requests, and will also allow you to lookup contractors that match your project criteria, using project type and location matches. With this ability, you can make a direct request for the specific contractors of your choosing. The system will limit the number of final bidders on a given project (currently only three), making it easier for you to compare, and also makes it a "more fair" situation for any contractor bidding on a job. The importance of all of the contractors bidding from this same project bid template; is that it forces them to provide the necessary detail, and in a format that you can easily compare side-by-side or "Apples-to-Apples". Since this system was conceived by builders, the right templates are set up to give you the information you need to make an informed decision about your most valuable asset, YOUR HOME! This system will provide you with great detail (including those "hidden" items) and will also be your guide as to where you are in the progress of the job, through the use of our optional project management area. During contractor registration, the system requests contractor insurance, licensing information, and years in the business, etc... and during bidding the system asks the contractor to separate out their overhead and profit numbers, so you'll know how much you're paying for costs and profit. Now how valuable is that? When the estimates are completed, each are available in our system for your viewing or printing, and we automatically notify via e-mail those who didn't receive the job, so you don't have to make those awkward rejection phone calls. AND, if you would like, you may later send your chosen contractor back to the "Apples-to-Apples" website to have them fill in other useful job information, such as your decision deadline date schedules, product selection schedules, timelines and other project-related details. And as a further bonus, we'll provide you with links to key construction websites we feel would be a great resource for you in choosing a contractor or just preparing for your project. Let us help put you in control of the wheel... when it comes to managing your bids and project details.

Dori Kelner, co-owner at Sleight of Hand Studios, a visual communications firm in Fairfax, VA, gave a talk at IABCs February independents lunch. She discussed search engine optimization (SEO) and gave advice on how to make sure your Web site is set up for optimal marketing.

Heres a summary of her talk with some marketing insight added by Stern Communication, which arranged the talk.

1. Hire a Developer Who Really Knows Online Marketing

Many developers will say they optimize for search engine optimization but they really don't know how to do it. Here are key questions to ask potential web designers before you hire them.

How do you handle on-page optimization versus link building?

Your potential developer should explain that on-page optimization is about providing relevant content (This is text on pages, including headlines and copy, that is sprinkled with key words so it will search higher) and meta data (These are the tags used in the coding of your site that search engines read)to drive people to your site. Link building is about getting other relevant Web sites to link to yours.

Relevant content is used a lot and it basically means what you think it means, information that matters to your business and your marketing.

A new Web site should follow the basics for on-page optimization and work at organic link building (natural linkages among your site and others related to your business). An established Web site should monitor link progress and further leverage other on-page factors such as headlines.

Who will develop content and what languages do you use to write the Web site code?

Make sure that a writer experienced in SEO is developing the content for you. She should know how to research keywords, populate meta data, and write for people who are interested in your business. After all, you are not selling to the robots(the invisible to us code readers, such as Google) even though they will be reading your code.

The developer should indicate that he uses HTML, with semantic mark-up and CSS. What does this mean? HTML is the language of the Internet, this is what the robots can read. Semantic markup and CSS are the way the code is styled. For example, the code that says that your text is to be displayed with the color red and 12 point Arial font should be in a file separate from your content. Its not important to the robots and this way they wont read it.

You should be concerned about Web sites coded in some formats such as Flash. Right now these are not robot friendly. You also don't want your developer to use JavaScript to code for navigation on your Web site.

2. Align Marketing Goals with Design of Your Web Site

Good search engine optimization (SEO), like good Web site development and smart marketing, starts with defining the goals of your Web site.

Some key questions to ask are the same questions you would ask of any marketing vehicle:

What types of products or services am I selling?
Who are my key target audiences?
What am I trying to accomplish - increase traffic, improve brand awareness, improve visibility, sell directly from the site, etc.?

Your goals will help you determine the right content and set key performance indicators (KPI or how we measure success) to monitor your progress.

For example, Sleight-of-Hand Studios is building Web sites that are aligned with the business plan and marketing strategy of their clients, so it is careful to build sites based upon clients marketing goals.

3. Design and Measure Key Performance Indicators

KPIs must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. Some examples are we want our site to:

Rank in the top five results for a specific keyword within 6 months
Increase traffic 10% by the end of the year
Get 30 new e-newsletter sign-ups within two months
Sell 500 high-margin items by September 1st.

Once you set these KPIs, you can monitor your progress and adjust your SEO to achieve them.

4. Maximize Meta Data and Content for Search Engine Optimization

Here are a few hard and fast rules to make sure your site scores high on the search engines for the key words youve chosen.

Make sure you use the right search terms. There are many ways to research the terms that you will need to help clients and prospects find your site. A few suggestions: Look at the Web sites of your competitors and the types of words and phrases they are using. Think about the key terms that you use when selling face to face. Ask what are the current buzzwords in my industry?

Create content that is of value to your reader. You need to provide information that is valuable and then place your key words into the text youve written. Dont let search dictate content, let the market dictate it and then optimize for search. Aim for 2-3 relevant keyword phrases per page.

Create valuable linkages to other sites. You want companies that are related to your business to
link to your site. One way to justify why they should is to provide industry information. Put up research papers, link to RSS feeds, or provide a searchable database that will be valuable to others in your industry. The more important industry information used on your site the higher it will score on a link building algorithm.

Be sure that all meta data is filled out in the code of your Web site. This information is included in meta data:

Page Titles - These are the titles that come up at the top of your browser window. They should be unique on each page and incorporate a relevant keyword term for that page. These are not headlines which are considered content, they are how you tag each page with code.

Descriptions - These are the text that the browser reads with the search results. It should be unique and a variation on the page title.

Heading tags - These are the headings in the content that the audience reads. Just making the text bigger does not make it a heading; it must be tagged as such in the code. The headings on a page should incorporate a variation of the keywords youve identified.

Make good use of anchor text. Let's say you have a page that discusses top-of-the-line flashlights. Other pages on your website may make references to these flashlights, and you will want to link those pages to the flashlight page.

You may be tempted to say, "To learn more about our flashlights, click here." The phrase "click here" is anchor text; it is the text that links you to the flashlight page. You want this text to be meaningful and use a keyword phrase. A better way to code this would be, "See our full selection of high-quality flashlights." Now you have created a meaningful linkage on your website.

Hello my faithful readers:

It's Monday again and although we're officially three days into spring, the weather certainly doesn't seem to be cooperating. It's barely above freezing here in NYC and the fact that I'm still wearing one of my bubble coats at this point in the year makes me wonder if I'll ever get to wear a sundress this season. Warm weather always flips a switch in me that turns me into a social butterfly because there's something magical about spring and summer in NYC. SIGH... So warm weather and REAL SPRING PLEASE COME RIGHT NOW, so that I'll feel the natural desire to be a social butterfly.

The winter weather might explain the mood I was in on Friday prior to my date with Mr. Ex. As you might recall from Friday's blog "Second Dates" although I was excited that we were seeing "I Love You Man," that night, all I really wanted to do was go home, snuggle in my PJ's, watch my Netflix selections and eat some Nilla Cakesters (YUM). Now Mr. Ex and I had confirmed the night before that we were meeting up at 8 pm. I told him that I would send him the details (by e-mail) and normally we usually talk on the phone, day of, to triple confirm our plans. In fact, one thing you should know about Mr. Ex is that he is pretty consistent with calling to check in on me or confirm plans; he isn't one to drop off the radar at all. This is actually one of the things I like most about him is his consistency. When I hadn't heard from him by around 6 pm (and he hadn't responded to the email) I gave him a call. He didn't answer, so I left him a message saying to call me back to confirm that we were still on for 8 pm. To kill time before our meeting time I went and got a mani-pedi at my local nail spot.

I called Mr. Ex a second time around 7:15, but didn't leave a message, while I was in the nail shop. By this point it wasn't looking good for us to meet up because I hadn't heard anything from him at all. Once my appointment was done at 7:55 I headed over to the Kmart near my office to kill time, because we were supposed to meet up for the 8 PM showing at the AMC on 34th Street. I called him and left a message saying "Hey it's G... and right now it's around 8 and we were supposed to meet up and I still haven't heard from you, I'll give it a few minutes and then I'm probably going to head home. I hope that everything is ok for you."

After leaving my message for Mr. Ex, I called The Roodster and asked her advice on when it would be appropriate for me to hop on the next C train to Brooklyn. After explaining the situation she said "Give him about 10 minutes then it is appropriate for you to leave." I have to admit I was secretly glad to have an unexpected free night, although my pride was a little hurt to be stood up. It's been a while since I've been stood up. The Roodster completely understood where I was coming from; afterwards we continued our conversation and discussed her plans for that evening. I gave her my two cents about her situation and it was 8:10 before we knew it.

After I ended the call with The Roodster, I headed downstairs to the ground floor of Kmart and proceeded to pick up a few things (a box of Nilla Cakesters included). After I made my purchases headed for the train. I was standing on the platform waiting for the C train (an E had just passed), I had my headphones in, I'm all bundled up and I'm holding all these shopping bags in my hand. The train pulls into the platform and who do I see, but Mr. Ex on the train. I was sort of in shock and I'm sure I had lots of emotions playing on my face (shock, disappointment, happiness, surprise, anger, shock)! I really wasn't expecting to hear from him again that night at least and here he was in front of me. He got off the train and I tapped him and he was just as surprised to see me standing there too.

Mr. Ex explained that he lost his phone and after realizing it on the bus in from NJ, stopped in an internet cafe in Times Square to get my number and the info about our meeting time. Then he asked me if I was really planning to leave when he saw me? I said Yes I was because I hadn't heard from you at all and wasn't sure that he was coming since he hadn't made contact before our meeting time or responded to my phone calls. So at this point I knew that we were definitely not making it to the 8 PM showing of "I Love You Man," so I suggested we head to one of the movie theaters in Times Square (an area that I absolutely ABHOR). He grabs my bags from me and said "What does it look like with you carrying those bags and I'm with you, not carrying anything?"

We got to Times Square and the 9:15 showing of "I Love You Man" was already sold out. I was sad that I wasn't going to see the movie I REALLY wanted to see; so I asked Mr. Ex what else he felt like seeing and he said it didn't matter to him. The only things up next were "Sunshine Cleaning" and "Taken" so I decided to do "Taken," hoping that it was escapist enough for me. After the movie (good, but super violent) we decided to walk around Times Square a little bit to talk. I learned a little bit more about him and what he's seeking in his next relationship. He said he's at the point where he's ready to get serious with someone, he wants to get a full-time job in the next six months (yep, I asked the question from Steve Harvey's book), he told me a little about his plans for the next few years, his background, why his name is portuguese and other things. Overall my impression of him after this second date is that he is a decent man and knows how a woman should be treated.

At the end of our date he saw me into a cab home (didn't offer to pay for it though) and called me once he was home to make sure I made it home. He also called me again on Saturday (we didn't talk) and then we talked a couple of times again on Sunday. He seems to be supportive of my plans for the future plans to start my MBA program, he was very respectful of me and I like the fact that he doesn't take anything for granted with me. When he asked if I was still dating other people I was honest and said at this point yes I am. He's paying attention and saying all of the right things and for me it's a nice change. I'm looking forward to our next date and he's even stepping up to the plate (at my suggestion that he should take the lead on planning our next dates) and has given a couple of ideas for our next couple of dates. Seeing someone that is actually paying attention and making adjustments accordingly to my responses is something I'm enjoying immensely. It's a nice change, very seductive (remember I'm reading "The Art of Seduction" right now) and I realize now that dating someone that understands the art of seduction is something I need to experience right now. I'm really looking forward to our next date.

Tomorrow I'll give you a re-cap of my date with The E-card Stalker. I'm thankful that I got to do these dates back to back, because having them a day apart really helped me to evaluate the differences in their treatment of me in a way that I haven't ever taken the time to do before. Thanks again for reading the blog today and I hope you have a great week.

There is no need for a Masters degree in Mathematics to understand the network marketing compensation plans. You have to be clear about something, a topic such as accounting may prove to be a challenge for most people, but the people that go through it will be able to master the balancing of their checkbooks.
The same rule applies for network marketing compensation plans - because if there was a wrong move or a wrong placement of the new downline, that small little miscalculation might result in potential losses of thousands of dollars in passive, residual income.
The one definite thing to success in your network marketing business is the depth of your business. And depth would mean the downlines who are under you have their own downlines, and so on and so forth thus, resulting in several levels of depth in the business.
Some people disagree and they decide to build in terms of width. While there are many advantages of building width, the biggest problem of building by width means that you have to take care of more people. What I mean by building depth means that you train your downlines to be able to get downlines of their own; building width means that you are recruiting a lot of people and you want all of them to respond and report to you personally.
Building a business in terms of width would mean that you have to personally train the people whom have been enrolled by you. The simple truth is that taking care of so many people at once is virtually impossible. Lets face it, network marketing is a business that involves personal training, face to face interaction. To be truly effective in your business, you have to be prepared to spend some personal time with your people.
Take for example a scenario where you have 5 people in your business. Assume that you are already working at a full time job, you can only dedicate one night to each person. Your downlines may also have their own prospects and its likely they will want to bring them to you for advice because you have more experience than the newly signed up downline.
The problems starts when you begin to have so many people and you honestly dont have enough time to dedicate to these people. What results is that people think theyre being neglected and they start to believe in the general concept that network marketing is a bad business simply because their uplines have no time for them.
Instead of building up yourself as the person to look to, its important that you train your downlines to have their own people as well so that they can start growing the business for themselves. Do you want your network marketing team to be filled with people who are independant and strong to lead their own team or do you want your team to be so reliant on you that they just dont know how to do the business by themselves?
So heres what you should be doing: When you find the right person and you believe that he or she is worth your time, the first and foremost priority for them is to be able to get their own downlines first. Once they have signed up their new prospect, you cannot stop there! You must now educate your downline to teach the same system to his or her downline.
The first goal that you want to set out for your new downline is to have a small team that is three levels deep. The reason for that is to teach your downline which you have personally enrolled, to become a trainer or teacher. You want to get that downline to be able to teach his downline to do the exact same thing.
Allow me to use a simply illustration to make my point clearer:
- You
- Level 1: Teacher / trainer of a teacher / trainer
- Level 2: Teacher
- Level 3: Student / Trainee
A dangerous trap that many people fall into is to stop at level 2. If you stop at level 2, this line of network marketers and downlines will not be independent enough. As you will still be the one teaching the teachers over and over again. You will only truly be independant if you have leaders who have their own downlines and teaching them without requiring you to intervene.
That would be called Leveraging and Duplication. You leverage on each and every single persons time and energy; you duplicate your system into your network marketing business.
Those are the two keys to building a solid, successful network marketing business.

What the heck is a virtual adult dating site? All the women appear to be prostitutes. Am I supposed to videoconference with them? Im scared to sign up and since you cant do anything without creating an account Im outta here.
I did appreciate the opportunity to self-identity as a Female-to-Male Transexual. You just dont see that option on signup forms often enough.
The press release says the new site has 17 million profiles yet Compete says 323 monthly visitors. How in the world did they get 17 million profiles? That borders on false advertising if not outright fraud. Something doesnt feel right here. Ok, I see it now. Read the fine print, the site is powered by Datech Limited, which is better known as World Dating Partners, the other white label dating provider.
Lets see: Dating is good, Adult is $$$, we have all these identity offerings, why not build a dating site and hit all three concepts? Then lets tell everyone we have 17 million profiles on opening day.
Does this mean that World Dating Partners has 17 million profiles specifically tagged as adult? That would be staggering.
Ill leave it to readers to comment on your thoughts on the success of outRAGEousEncounters.com.
Free background checks are coming. eFUEL runs several identity verification and background check companies as well, which Im sure will be used on the site.
Speaking of identity verification, I spent several hours this week talking with background check companies and their data providers. Still waiting for online dating sites to take advantage of these services. Integration is easy, the data is pretty ok (its the weakest link in any verification system) and the front end usability is pretty darn smooth. How long is it going to take for dating sites to wake up and smell the coffee? Whats holding you back? Id really like to know.

Anyone that knows me, they know that I LOVE to assist others. Actually, believe it or not, this was a downfall of mine when I first started in network marketing. See I came from a corporate and entrepreneurial background which meant that I ran new business the same way that Ive ran every other business that Ive ever had, and that is through giving back and helping others. Well, what I found out was that there were so many people out there eager to make their new home based networking business work that they would constantly call and ask for assistance looking for that answer on whatever it was they were confused on. Of course I was more than willing to help. Well, what happened was back then the only way I got my leads was through purchasing them and then spending hours on end chasing and following up contacts, which to be honest, I really didnt enjoy doing. I loved talking with people who were interested, but could not stand calling and calling to no end only to find out that they really werent serious to start a new business after all. (No more of that by the way!!!) However, I DID enjoy helping others. Well, what ended up happening was I started training more than I was prospecting. I wasnt getting paid to train others teams, but I was gaining so much experience and loved it so much that without knowing it that was a big part of getting me to where I am today!

What I found out is that actually helping others is a great way to get leads, and GREAT leads at that! People who had the same interests as I, are now calling me! They loved to travel, wanted to make incredible amounts of money, wanted to have a voice, wanted more quality time for themselves and their family, and truly wanted to get out of the 9-5 (in my case 7am-12am!) grind!!! They have desire and the drive to actually make a change in their life and they do not accept mediocrity as a way of life. AND, they all want to know how to make that change and what the vehicle was that was going to get them there. I love it! I have the vehicle, they just need to get in and move from the back seat to the drivers seat and that is a beautiful thing to witness!

I started writing articles, blogs and making videos and the end result was amazing. I got good, quality customers (not leads!) that wanted to either become a Platinum One Destinations affiliate or became part of my mentoring program, or maybe they just purchased one of my e-books. They become a customer on the level they are comfortable with. And, the beautiful thing is, I see all of my customers growing with me, purchasing more as they grow, truly based on what they need. Now, they arent always getting that from me, I have great mentors myself that are experts in their field and Im not too proud to show you the way directly to them when needed, however I train on a very balanced business that will show you the way to reach whatever your True Wealth goals are and assist you in getting there as quickly as you are ready for.

Giving to others in so many ways is incredibly rewarding. I did find that I needed to start sharing my generosity with groups versus one-on-one if I wanted to keep living the lifestyle I desired and that truly is Working from anywhere, anytime! I dont mind working hard, but my life was being taken over from the time I woke up until I went to bed. Eric, my hubby, and my adorable chocolate lab Kona, love to go to the beach for walks, and pick up and travel any time we feel like it and that all halted when I was working one-on-one. All of that changed when I started forums and groups based on different need levels. And, most of the groups felt more comfortable when there were others in the group that had the same needs as themselves, so it created a support group truly customized for them. They get what they need to grow and so do I, plus I get my much needed personal time to indulge in learning more and more so I can share with everyone and I still get to travel anytime I want, yippee!! Its such a flexible business I cant imagine working in corporate America ever again!

You may want to consider expressing your own generosity in more expansive ways such as myself. Share your knowledge such as lecturing, writing or teaching. If you can give some thought to your topic and have it dovetail upon that of your business, youll attract an amazing amount of new customers to yourself.

If you arent comfortable with groups, individual is a great way to start as well, I did. You could enter into a mentoring program or perhaps respond and answer questions on online forums that are similar types of people in your demographics that you would like to attract to your business. (Specifying your demographics and niche in a home based business is imperative to massive success, however that is a whole other article!!!)

Generously sharing your time and expertise gives not only you a sense of satisfaction about your ability to help others, but you are assisting them and attracting them to your new business as well. Youd be amazed at what you know. Whatever pops into your head, write it down. Something you may feel is very mundane or simplistic is something someone else could really truly use some assistance on. Here is a good example of what I mean . . . Organization, I can not tell you how many VPs of corporations become network marketers and solo-entrepreneurs and when they start working from home all of a sudden all organizational skills go out the door and they they dont know how to organize themselves anymore. Trust me they are in complete chaos. In our consulting business we teach everything from organization to latest marketing skills to making a 7 figure income and still have a life! Yes, the simple things are important, dont ever forget that!!

When you figure out your niche and find out how much we can accelerate others learning curves by sharing with them what we already know, then it truly comes to light that we have so much more to offer than just our product or service at hand. You become a mentor to others, and that is so satisfying, while building your business as well, how exciting is that?!

Give back to others, get active by generously sharing your knowledge and youll truly be happy you did. This is just the next step in increasing your business by leaps and bounds, not to mention just being different than every other network marketer out there. Make a statement, you truly care, you arent just looking to make a sale.

Forecasts say that within the next year or two approximately half of the families in America will be involved in a home based business of one kind or another. Some will meet with only moderate success, if any at all, while other will soar to unbelievable heights. If youre like me you want to be in the latter category of those who achieve great financial success. After all, thats why were in business in the first place. No one gets into business to fail. We all want to succeed and achieve financial independence.
How to accomplish that kind of success is another story. As for me, Ive found that success comes from having a home based business that is based on solid Biblical and Christian principles.
If youve spent any time on the Internet looking at home based business opportunities youve found many that promise unlimited income potential, but in the end they only take your hard earned cash. Perhaps thats why so many are now seeking Christian home based businesses. They are looking for business opportunities that are truly Christ-centered, and that deliver on the promises they make.
But once youve found a true Christian home based business how do you achieve real genuine financial success?
Here are a few guidelines that have helped me reach the goal of financial independence working from home.
Always put the Lord first:

The only way to achieve financial success in a Christian home based business is to put the Lord first in every facet of your business. Jesus Christ should be at the center of every business activity - from prospecting to closing the sale.
Make Jesus Christ your business partner:

Think of it this way. If Jesus is truly your business partner do you suppose that will determine how you do business with others? When recruiting others into our Christian home based business opportunity we build a trusting relationship with them. They believe the claims we make and our promises of always being there to help and mentor them. Having Jesus as our business partner means we will always operate on the basis of truth.
Give glory to God:

Moses encouraged the Israelites to remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). Those who are successful in developing a Christian home based business understand that with the blessings of God the business will fail. Our success is not of our own making. It is God who gives us the ability to produce wealth. Therefore, give credit to whom credit is due. Give God the glory.
Work as if working for the Lord:

The apostle Paul told servants they should serve their masters as if they were actually serving Christ, doing the will of God from your heart (Ephesians 6:6). If start every day with that mindset, and think of ourselves as servants of Jesus Christ, we will expend our time and energy doing those things that will bring ultimate glory to God. In other words, we invest the time God has given us doing those things that will make our business a success.
A Christian home based business is a wonderful opportunity to make money from the comfort of your home, while honoring the Lord and serving other people. More millionaires are being created in the home based business industry today than from any other business enterprise.
So what should you look for? A Christian home based business should market products and services or a business opportunity that are of the highest value for the money charged. A Christian home based business should also provide excellent training and customer support and be operated on the highest standards of honesty and integrity. Follow these simple rules and your Christian home based business should provide you with great financial wealth as well as personal success and be a true blessing to others.

Are you having trouble making your mortgage? Are you short several hundred dollars every month trying to pay your house payment? How about renting out a room in your house to help pay your mortgage? Here are some tips to help you decide if renting out a room in your house is for you.

1. Imagine how it would be to rent out a room in your house. You will loose some privacy. You will have to share your home, like your kitchen and your bathroom and you would have to be willing to let someone use your kitchen ware and furniture. If you feel that you would be willing to do this, then read on.

2. Learn about renting by contacting a HUD housing counseling agency to get advice about state landlord/tenant laws, or purchase a book. You can also get help with a rental contract from them and find out where you can purchase rental agreement forms.

3. Look around your house and decide what room your renter would use. If you have an extra bedroom and an extra bathroom, then your halfway there. If not, think about another area that would work, even if that means giving them your bedroom and you turning the family room or dining area into a bedroom. Also, don't forget your garage. You would have to park your car on the street, but if your city ordinance will allow you to do it, this can be another option.

4. Consider that you will need to offer the use of your kitchen and appliances. Consider if you will be offering use of your laundry facilities or would rather they use a laundromat. Decide if you will purchasing all of the groceries and then having them pitch in or if you will be allocating separate space in your refrigerator and having them cook and purchase their own food. Decide if you will allow a pet or if they will be able to use the phone, or even have an extension in their room. Will they be sharing the cost of the cable, water and electricity or will you be paying for all of that.

5. Provide a comfortable room. It can be unfurnished, partial furnished or completely furnished. You can supply a bed or a television or a phone. Whatever how you decide to do it, make sure it is clean and homey as possible so that the tenant will find the room a sanctuary and will feel comfortable staying there.

6. Make up a rental agreement outlining rules of the house. If there is no cooking in the kitchen after 10:00 p.m., put it in the rules, no overnight guests, put it in the rules. Have the potential tenant read the rules before they decide to rent. Make sure you put everything in the rental agreement, because if you think of something later, it is pretty hard to change the rental agreement without making the tenant upset.

7. Rent is usually collected in advance on the first day of the month for which the rent applies. A dated receipt should be given to your tenant each time the rent is paid. This will help keep accurate records. I would suggest that you have a month to month rental contract other than a lease. It is easier for the tenant as far as giving a 30-day notice and leaving but it is also easier for you to give a 30-day notice, if the tenant turns out to be disagreeable.

8. Place an ad on craigslist.com and also search for ads on craigslist.com and roomster.com. Check other advertisements for rooms in private homes to get an idea of average prices. When you advertise make it clear that you are renting out a room in your private home and this is not a roommate situation. Outline some of the rules so that you will only get calls from renters that are willing to follow your rules.

9. Do a credit check on your potential tenant. You can become a member of a tenant/landlord association and they can tell you where you can call to get a credit check done. Under no circumstances rent to someone out of theirs or yours desperation. Listen to your instincts.

10. Be considerate of your new tenant and realize that they will rub you the wrong way from time to time. Keep the line of communications open so that problems don't turn into emotional issues that will make you dislike your tenant and want to kick them out. For example, if they forget to lock the front door or don't pick up their dirty towels. Being thorough with your rental agreement, even if it means adding an addendum outlining your rules, will keep everything running smoothly.

Singapore, 10 December 2008 – Singapore is preparing to scale up its media infrastructure as it makes plans to turn itself into a Trusted Global Media Capital.
A 19-hectare (ha) plot of land has been earmarked for the development of Mediapolis @ one-north – a 200-ha innovation and RD hub that is master planned and master developed by JTC Corporation (JTC). Mediapolis @ one-north, which will be an industry demand-driven project, is envisioned to be a self-contained and vibrant digital media cluster.
When ready, it will be a hub that will house a media ecosystem comprising soundstages with green screen capabilities; digital production and broadcast facilities; interactive digital media (IDM) and RD activities; Computer-generated Imagery and visual effects; post-production, games and animation; industry-response digital media schools, business parks, work lofts and incubators; intellectual property (IP) creation and digital rights management.
The development of Mediapolis @ one-north, an ideal environment to promote the dynamic flow of talent and cross-pollination of ideas, will kick-off with the launch of its first site – a 1.2-ha land JTC has reserved for development in the first quarter of next year. Local media production company, Infinite Frameworks, will invest and develop a soundstage complex on this plot of land.
Escalating Demand For TheSingapore Media
Singapore has seen good progress in its media sector in recent times. In 2005, this industry reported an annual turnover of S$18.2 billion (or US$13.4 billion), contributing S$4.9 billion value added (or US$3.6 billion) to Singapore’s Gross Domestic Product, and employing close to 55,000 people.
The media industry is expanding, and we have seen growth in the fields of media funding – about S$1billion are anchored here – award-winning films, games and animation, IDM and major international co-productions such as the filming and production of Mark Burnett’s “Contender Asia” and “The Contender 4” here in Singapore.
Given these positive developments, increasing demands from the industry for more co-production collaboration, the upcoming shoot of Jan de Bont’s “Point Break 2” here next year, and the location of global media giants such as Lucasfilm, Linden Lab, EA, Ubisoft and most recently, Italian gaming and animation company, Rainbow SpA, to our shores, the government has primed itself to prepare Singapore as a future media hub.
As a result, there is a necessity to create a media epicentre; hence, Mediapolis @ one-north was conceptualised to provide a ‘home’ to our thriving media sector.
“The Mediapolis is an essential piece of a comprehensive media ecosystem that we are building,” says Dr Christopher Chia, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Media Development Authority (MDA). ”Over the years, Singapore’s media industry has made great strides, particularly in media financing and international co-productions. To elevate ourselves to the next level, we are finding ways to add scale and synergy to what we already have.
“With the support of the industry, the Mediapolis and its intended array of soundstages, digital post-production facilities and RD labs, to name a few, will be the infrastructural conduit that will enable Singapore to host international media players and large, big-budget projects.”
As the master planner and developer of one-north, JTC plays a key role in providing the physical infrastructure.
“JTC is pleased to be part of this multi-government agency effort that propels Singapore ahead as a Trusted Global Media Capital,” says Mr Philip Su, Assistant CEO, JTC. “We are glad to contribute to building the critical pieces, which will complement each other in the growth of a vibrant media ecosystem.
“Mediapolis @ one-north will be the 3rd strategic industry cluster in one-north, after Biopolis (biomedical sciences) and Fusionopolis (infocomm, media, engineering and physical sciences). Mediapolis will also be able to leverage on the creative community in the neighbouring Wessex Estate, and tap on the synergies and world-class expertise within one-north.

Not only can you have your articles published online for millions of people to easily find, but because we want to build a massive collection of high quality content we are willing to pay authors for submitting their articles to Content Caboodle.
Here's how it works. As a basic "Author", the entry level for all new authors who register, you'll receive $3.00 U.S.D. for every 1,000 page views to your articles. How easy is it to receive 1,000 page views? If you have 4 articles published that would be just 250 views each. If you have 8 articles published then it is just 125 views to each.
Once you've published several articles as a basic Author and they have collectively received a certain number of page views you will be upgraded to "Premium Author". As a Premium Author you will receive $4.00 U.S.D. for every 1,000 page views your articles receive, including the ongoing accumulated page views to articles published while you were a basic Author.
And finally, after having a certain number of articles published as a Premium Author you will again be upgraded to "Expert Author" status, at which time you will receive $5.00 U.S.D. for every 1,000 page views to your articles from then on.
Every article you have published here will continue to earn you money for page views for as long as people keep reading them on ContentCaboodle.com--and the more you participate as an author the higher status level you will reach to increase the amount your articles earn for you.
Author payouts are made on a monthly basis, and issued via PayPal.com on the 26th of each month for the preceeding period. For example, the amount earned during the month of June would be sent to your PayPal.com account on July 26th. We are hoping to make the payout date earlier than the 26th each month sometime soon, however all page view earnings are totaled and verified manually to avoid manipulations and this process takes time.
Please see our Author Terms of Service page for more information.
